Second day of our existence. The place is hectic. Sweet Heavens!
Aunts, siblings, grandparents, neighbors, friends…everybody wants to
see you. You can hardly see anybody yet. But hear all those silly Willy
sounds and noises. Mama covering you with a cotton sheet and
blanket. Some get too close. Mama has to protect you. At all times.
Food is prepared, the kitchen gets busy. The smell of this and that
is delicious. Grandma works her magic. So does Grandpa and
everybody. They all want to help Mama on everything. They are all
good people. The place is full of laughter and goodwill. After awhile,
everybody understands Mama and the rest need some rest. And they all
leave. Finally there is peace and quiet and the aroma of coffee and food
permeates the house for a couple of hours. Mama and Papa hold hands.
Kiss each other tenderly. Lay next to each other taking a nap.
A storm is approaching. Thunder and wind start shaking trees and
plants. Papa gets up and closes windows and doors. You can still hear
the whistling wind. As a large serpent roaming the streets. And rain
starts. Its sound is a beautiful whisper. Gentle and full. As Mama Earth
feeding its baby world. Its mountains, oceans and rivers. What a
coincidence. Both Mamas acting in cue. Mama giving birth to you.
Mama Earth giving birth to a another mountain. And that’s how your
second day was. Wish you a million more like it. Good luck to you,
sweet child.
